Gallatin to evaluate short-term pause on rezoning

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The city of Gallatin could soon put a temporary pause on rezoning properties.

Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown said it would be a short-term moratorium, likely just a few months, to allow their city to update their zoning ordinance.

While their neighbors in Hendersonville are pushing ahead on what would be a 9-month pause on new apartments, Brown said Gallatin isn’t challenged for space or infrastructure and does not want to push away developers.

In addition, the mayor said Gallatin won’t stop new developments just for the sake of it, reinforcing that they can’t punish those who want to sell their open land. Above all else, she said they are reviewing what type of moratoriums are actually allowed per state guidelines…
