The week-long search for a missing Rutherford County man came to a tragic conclusion when Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed his death following a vehicle crash, as first reported by News 2. Danny Brown, 68, the owner of Ace Towing, had been last seen last Sunday, with concerns culminating in his tow truck’s GPS being found to be intentionally turned off.
Following the increase in concern from Brown’s family the nonprofit organization United Search Corps was called in to assist in the Nashville area, employing sonar to investigate the Cumberland River among other areas without success, and in a statement obtained by News 2, a vehicle was found submerged and covered in algae, but it was unrelated to Brown and contained no body. In a subsequent discovery, THP relayed to WSMV that Brown had been involved in a fatal incident on Interstate 24 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to THP, on Saturday, Brown’s 2022 Dodge Ram tow truck was traveling east near mile marker 68 when it veered off the road, crashing into a sign and a tree, WSMV reports.
