Nashville’s ‘Belonging Fund’ expands to cover legal services, sparking debate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Nashville-based fund created to help immigrant families in crisis is expanding how its donations can be used, and it’s drawing fresh criticism from some state leaders.

“The Belonging Fund” launched in May 2025 through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The program began the day after an ICE enforcement crackdown in Nashville and was intended to provide emergency support to immigrant families.
