NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation released new data showcasing violent crime statistics from across the country in early August.
While the overall national violent crime rate (VCR) decreased in 2024 (359.1 per 100,000 residents), there were some cities, including two in Tennessee, that landed above that average.
According to the data, Memphis took the top spot with a VCR of 2,501 per 100,000 residents in 2024, with Nashville outside the top 10 at No. 13 with a VCR of 1,124.1 per 100,000 residents.
