Mayor Freddie O’Connell and the Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC) Board of Commissioners have appointed Jamekia Bies as the next ‘executive director’ of Metro Action. She will assume the role on September 29.
Bies brings two decades of experience in programs that promote the social and economic mobility of families, children, and adults. She began her career at a Community Action agency in western Alabama, providing Head Start, energy assistance, and housing support before moving into senior leadership and executive roles.
“MAC is critical to ensuring more Nashvillians can stay and thrive here, and I look forward to working with Jamekia to do that work,” Mayor O’Connell said. “She is a thoughtful leader who brings a wealth of experience across the nonprofit, human services, and education sectors.”…
