Boat owner charged in drowning death on Percy Priest Lake

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman has been charged in connection with the drowning death of a 55-year-old man last year on Percy Priest Lake.

Rescue crews were called to Elm Hill Marina off Bell Road around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024. According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Jason McDonald, of Hermitage, jumped from a boat and struggled before he never resurfaced.

Man’s body recovered from Percy Priest Lake

McDonald had been on the water with friends and jumped as the boat was in a no wake zone near the marina. He was not wearing a lifejacket.

According to court documents, investigators spoke with the owner of the boat, Felicia Fay King, and a female passenger while McDonald’s body was being recovered from the water. The women said he began to struggle and they tried to throw him floatation devices and ropes, but he could not get back to the vessel…
