Drugs, $24K in cash found after driver sped 115 mph on I-40, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 30-year-old man is behind bars after he was caught driving a stolen vehicle that was filled with drugs and cash, officials said.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said Violent Crimes Unit detectives caught Charles Crawford Jr. traveling at approximately 115 miles per hour in a stolen Infiniti Q60 along I-40 on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

According to authorities, a MNPD helicopter crew initially saw Crawford running red lights in the Infiniti, which was reported stolen last week from a FedEx facility on Logistics Way. The 30-year-old was later taken into custody on Tennessee Avenue.

Detectives reported that 220 grams of fentanyl, 292 grams of heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, meth, three scales and $24,000 in cash were all found inside the Infiniti. In addition, authorities also recovered a fake temporary tag and a vehicle programmer.
