Hermitage townhomes aim to fill Nashville’s ‘missing middle’

HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A long-anticipated development in Hermitage is moving closer to reality. Nearby business owners say they’re eager to welcome new neighbors, but they’re also bracing for an uptick in traffic.

The Dodson Place project, approved in 2021, will bring 54 townhomes to Dodson Chapel Road, breaking ground in 2026. Councilman Jordan Huffman said construction delays were tied to pandemic-era shortages.

“Approved in 2021, the project faced the same challenges as many did after COVID, with construction materials and getting started a little bit late,” Huffman said. “But it’s going to be a very good project.”

The rezoning requires that all units be sold rather than rented, and short-term rentals will not be allowed. Huffman said that helps fill a critical gap in Nashville’s housing market…
