GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK, Tenn. (WATE) — Ryan Lakes, 21, was found dead in the Big Creek area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the National Park Service said.
Lakes was last seen on Thursday in Nashville and his vehicle was found in the Big Creek area of the park on Saturday, Sept. 20, according to NPS. After his vehicle was found, park rangers and local agencies began searching for him. His body was found at 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 21.
Several organizations assisted with the search for Lake, including the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office, the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Forest Service, the Rhea County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and the BUSAR Search and Rescue.
