NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Researchers at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, are warning people to be on the lookout for cannibals they fear may be slithering throughout Nashville.
The “cannibal snails,” also known as rosy wolfsnails, were first reported in Belle Meade around 2006. Now, researchers fear they may have spread to other parts within Davidson County.

“They are cannibal snails, you know, they’ll eat their own, but they will mostly eat a lot of our native population, and that’s what we’re most concerned about,” said Dana Mills, Graduate Researcher with UT Knoxville’s Earth, Environment, and Planetary Studies.
