2 charged after machete attack in downtown Nashville, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two people have been charged in connection with an attack that left a man injured Sunday night in downtown Nashville, according to Metro police.

Officers were called to the reported stabbing just after 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of 1st Avenue South and Demonbreun Street.

Officials said they found a person with minor injuries, which reportedly occurred during an altercation with the suspect. The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

In an update from Metro police, officials said the victim was confronted by two people after a bottle was thrown. Diana Thompson, 32, allegedly struck the victim in the face with a machete, and a second person — identified as a 40-year-old man — punched the victim.

Thompson was booked into Metro jail and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The 40-year-old man is charged with misdemeanor assault with bodily injury…
