Wedding fight leads to conviction for Brentwood woman

Following a two-day jury trial in Sumner County Criminal Court last week, a Brentwood woman was convicted of aggravated assault, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

During the trial, Assistant District Attorneys General Tara Wyllie and Nathan Nichols presented evidence that, on Nov. 18, 2023, Lindsey Danyelle Covington, 40, of Brentwood, was attending a wedding in Gallatin when she became extremely intoxicated and began to harass and threaten another guest. Later, as the guest was helping clean up the venue, Covington launched an unprovoked attack by throwing alcohol in his eyes and smashing a large beer glass against his face.

The victim suffered severe injuries, including significant blood loss and shock, and required 80 facial stitches. The attack left him with permanent scarring. Covington was taken into custody by Gallatin Police Officer Derek Akin and charged with aggravated assault…
