Innocent man killed in mistaken identity shooting identified

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The innocent man killed in a mistaken identity shooting last week has been identified.

Metro Police identified the victim Monday as 42-year-old Marco Ramirez. Dorian Brooks, 22, allegedly shot Ramirez during a domestic dispute with his girlfriend at an apartment complex on Old Franklin Road. Before the shooting, Brooks’ girlfriend was moving out of his apartment when she said her ex-boyfriend was picking her. Ramirez then pulled into the parking lot at the same time.

Brooks reportedly admitted to firing at Ramirez’s vehicle without knowing who was inside.

Ramirez, who was not connected to Brooks or his girlfriend, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A handgun was discovered near a tree behind the apartment building…
