Nashville Grapples with Surge in Firearm Thefts from Vehicles as Police Urge Better Safety Measures

In a recent report, a pressing issue has come to light in Nashville – the rampant theft of firearms from vehicles. According to data from the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), this year has seen a significant surge in the number of guns stolen from cars throughout the city, bringing to light the risks of storing weapons in vehicles.

The numbers are telling: with 774 guns reported stolen from vehicles, firearms thefts from automobiles account for a staggering 76% of total gun thefts in Davidson County, thus far into 2025.
