Long Hunter State Park installs gate to deter crime

Long Hunter State Park has installed a gate to restrict after-dark entry due to rising crime concerns.

“We realize there will be some inconvenience, but it’s being done for the safety of our visitors,” a park spokesman said. “We’ve had incidents of vandalism and crime, and it’s for the public’s protection.”

The gate that admits vehicles to the park – and access to its Percy Priest Lake boat ramp – will close at 5 p.m. The gate’s electronic device will permit vehicles inside the park to exit at any time…
