East Nashville food pantry prepares to meet growing need as SNAP benefits face cuts

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Food pantries across Middle Tennessee are preparing for a surge in demand as SNAP benefits are set to run out next month, with some organizations already seeing significant increases in the number of people they serve.

The East Nashville Care Market (ENCM) has seen a 20% increase in people served since July. The organization typically serves just over 1,000 people each month, but that number has grown to closer to 1,300.
