Last night, a 2001 BMW 325i became the property of the state, as Traffic Unit officers executed a seizure following the drag racing conviction of the car’s owner, 27-year-old Kashmere Black-Draine. The confiscation of the vehicle was in line with T.C.A. 55-10-502, which mandates seizure and forfeiture of vehicles believed to be involved in drag racing offenses. The legal action took place after a conviction was secured, a report from the Nashville Police Department.
The initial incident unfolded back on February 24 when Nashville officers witnessed two speeding vehicles racing down West Trinity Lane, clocking in at speeds over 80 m.p.h. When they managed to pull the vehicles over, Black-Draine was quick to admit to driving recklessly. However, her legal woes compounded as she was not just simply charged with drag racing. In addition to the racing charge, she was alleged to have been resisting arrest, driving on a revoked license, lacking insurance, possessing marijuana, and, predictably, reckless driving, according to the Nashville Police Department.
Eventually, Black-Draine received a probated sentence of one year for the drag racing conviction.
