Eastland Apartments residents claim predatory towing by property management company

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Residents in East Nashville are frustrated with what they claim is predatory towing at their apartment complex.

Tenants in The Eastland Apartments on Eastland Avenue said the parking situation at their building has been nothing short of a nightmare. Some residents, like Liz Somerville, said they will not be renewing their leases as a result of the constant frustration and hits to their bank accounts.

In August, Somerville told News 2 the property managers—Elmington Properties—gave residents parking tags to hang from their rearview mirrors to distinguish them from visitors parking to patronize businesses that share the building footprint.

But according to Somerville, the quality of the tags was lacking, and many of the cheaply made parking placards ended up on the floorboards of their cars or melting on a hot day…
