Radnor Lake State Park reopens some trails that were damaged by flooding

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Radnor Lake State Park has started to welcome visitors back after reopening their trails, which were badly damaged from flooding.

Otter Creek Road, which includes access to the South Lake and South Cove trails, has fully reopened. The road runs along the lake’s southwest side and sustained damage during flooding in 2010. Since then, heavy rains caused further damage to Otter Creek Road, which led to cracked sidewalks in the pavement. In May 2021, more flash flooding devastated areas along the creeks and streams, causing chunks of asphalt to collapse.

The park completed the long-awaited, state-funded stabilization project to repair the damage. Work on the project began in May and portions of the roadway were closed to joggers, dog walkers and bicyclers so work can be done on the parking area. Park leadership said the start of the project was delayed to ensure nesting eagles were not disrupted.
