The Nashville Police Department has reported a significant increase in gun thefts from vehicles this year. According to Metropolitan Nashville Police Department release, 863 firearms have been stolen from cars and trucks across the city, surpassing last year’s total of 790 for the same period. The department noted that 76% of all gun thefts in Davidson County in 2025 have occurred in vehicles.
Stolen firearms are often used in crimes such as robberies and carjackings. In the past week alone, 15 guns were taken from vehicles. Despite ongoing advisories, many owners continue to leave firearms in unsecured cars.
