A Nashville resident in her 60s is facing eviction on December 1st, leaving her and her four cats at risk of homelessness. The woman, who suffers from mental illness and struggles with daily tasks, has been living in a rental property made affordable through FEMA. However, the landlord is now evicting the current tenants to renovate the properties for higher-paying renters. Despite having a job working at events around Nashville, the woman has no credit, no savings, and no one else who can help her. Efforts to secure alternative housing have so far been unsuccessful, with all available assistance programs either full, closed, or backed up for years.
