NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A single adult living in Davidson County needs to make over $100,000 a year to live comfortably, according to a new study by Upgraded Points, creating a significant gap with the area’s median income of just over $80,000 a year.
The study defines comfortable living as spending half of income on housing and everyday needs, 30% on discretionary activities like going out or events and 20% on savings or debt payments.
Income requirements climb with family size
The financial burden increases substantially for larger households. A family of four in Nashville would need over $200,000 annually to avoid living paycheck to paycheck, the study shows.
