Man charged with pepper spray assault on WeGo bus

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Multiple people on a bus in downtown Nashville were affected after a “disorderly” passenger pepper sprayed another person, according to court documents.

Reports said a bus driver attempted to remove the intoxicated and disorderly man from the bus near the 100 block of Union Street. During the altercation, the man — Vanell Cain, 69 — reportedly pepper sprayed another person, causing the irritant to spread throughout entire bus.

The driver was treated for serious injuries to his eyes and was not able to finish his bus route.

According to reports, Cain told officers he was intoxicated during the assault. He was booked into Metro jail and charged with felony aggravated assault with serious bodily injury…
