Lake Providence presiding pastor retires, welcomes new pastor-elect

Rev. Dr. William Seth Martin has been selected as the new pastor of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church (LPMBC). He will assume the role of pastor-elect effective January 1, 2026. Lifelong member and current presiding pastor, Rev. H. Bruce Maxwell, is stepping down from his leadership role after 50 years of service.

Rev. Martin. founded the Brook Community Church in Minneapolis, Min., which merged with Sanctuary Covenant church in 2024. He currently leads preaching and spiritual formation at the church. Rev. Martin’s previous ministry experience includes ‘director of ministries’ at Victory Cathedral Worship Center (Chicago), youth pastor at New Hope Baptist Church (Arkansas), and ‘chapel assistant lead’ at Hampton University Memorial Church.
