NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A small Middle Tennessee ministry says it has now helped more than 1,100 Ukrainian war orphans as the war with Russia enters another winter.
The Wings of the Wind ministry, based in Hickman County, has made repeated trips to Ukraine since the early days of the conflict. Despite limited resources, the group continues to provide direct aid to orphanages affected by bombings, power outages, and extreme cold.
Each visit reveals new needs, according to Pastor Stu Martin, who leads the ministry. He says the group’s mission is rooted in caring for widows and orphans, particularly in times of crisis.
Many orphanages have been damaged by airstrikes and are operating without reliable heat, electricity, or running water. During the latest trip, the ministry focused on purchasing winter blankets and generators to help children survive sub-zero temperatures that can last for months…
