A large number of fraternity brothers, the fraternity organization itself and its property manager accused of wrongful death by the family of Riley Strain had their civil cases dismissed this week by Boone County Judge Joshua Devine.
Strain was a University of Missouri student and member of the Delta Chi fraternity who on the night of March 8, 2024, was asked by staff to leave country star Luke Bryan’s bar Luke’s 32 Bridge Food + Drink in Nashville. He then went missing, and his body was found March 22, 2024, in the Cumberland River. His death was ruled an accidental drowning.
The wrongful death suit was filed by Strain’s family, including stepfather Christopher Whiteid; mother, Michelle Whiteid; father, Robert Gilbert; and stepmother, Melissa Gilbert. They argue the fraternity did not follow its own rules when planning and conducting a spring formal trip…
