Nashville police warn of ‘tap to pay’ scam involving suspects asking for money to help youth sports

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Metro Nashville Police Department is warning the public of a scam involving victims being asked to use “tap to pay.”

Police reported that individuals in shopping centers and store parking lots were soliciting money.

Scam Alert: Please be aware of persons in shopping center & store parking lots soliciting money under the guise of supporting youth sports teams. Instead of cash, they are asking victims to use “tap to pay.” Amounts being charged are significantly more than the donor expected. pic.twitter.com/IfzO3Yza2Z
