Community mourns death of former Mr. BoroPride after hit-and-run on Hermitage Avenue

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Many people in Middle Tennessee are grieving the loss of 23-year-old Afriye Seegars — better known as Smooth Sexton — following a hit-and-run crash south of downtown Nashville on New Year’s Day.

The incident was reported around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, in the 200 block of Hermitage Avenue. The Metro Nashville Police Department said Sexton and a 24-year-old man were standing on a sidewalk outside Pecker’s Bar and Grill, about to get into a rideshare, when they were hit by a speeding car.

According to authorities, the 24-year-old is in critical condition at a local hospital, but Sexton was killed in the crash.
