NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — After engaging in a pursuit, officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Central Precinct seized crack cocaine and cash “consistent with street-level narcotics sales” from a suspect.
In a social media post, the precinct said officers with the B-Bikes Unit witnessed a man “conducting hand-to-hand narcotics transactions” near the intersection of Lewis Street and Lafayette Street.

Authorities established probable cause and determined he posed an ongoing threat to public safety as they were contributing to narcotic-related offenses affecting residents in MNPD’s South and Central Precincts, the post added. Officers responded to the area and reportedly saw the suspect try to flee in a vehicle. When officers tried to initiate a traffic stop on Cannon Street, he fled on foot — that’s when the MNPD said the suspect retrieved a firearm from his waistband.
MNPD officers put some distance between themselves and the suspect before taking him into custody without further incident after he reportedly hopped a fence.
