‘Total disregard for humanity’: A look at ICE enforcement and use of force in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Following a deadly ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis, advocates for immigrants in Nashville have renewed calls for accountability and restraint.

While in federal immigration operations are routine, the deadly use of force is not. The last ICE-involved shooting in Nashville happened in 2019, outside the Food Lion in Percy Priest.

“I remember that so vividly because it was so rare for ICE to use violent force like that to fire a weapon,” Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition‘s Executive Director, Lisa Sherman Luna, said.
