‘Just trust me’: Multiple Tennessee court cases allege pattern of financial deception by one man

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Tennessee man is facing a growing web of civil judgments and criminal indictments across multiple counties as several women allege they were left financially devastated after trusting him with large sums of money, property purchases and construction projects that never materialized.

Court records show Daniel Raynal Martin has been named in civil litigation and indicted by grand juries in at least three Tennessee counties — Franklin, Moore and Marshall — in cases involving allegations of theft, fraud and the unlawful use of credit and debit cards.

In one Nashville civil case, a judge ruled that Martin must pay more than $1 million after finding that a woman invested more than $300,000 in personal cash and credit based on what she alleged were false representations. The court documents state the financial losses stemmed from assurances Martin made regarding repayment and business outcomes that never occurred…
