Highway 70 South reopens after heavy police presence spotted in Bellevue

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A News 2 crew saw a large law enforcement presence in Bellevue, where a section of Highway 70 South was temporarily blocked Saturday afternoon.

According to Metro Nashville’s active dispatch log, an incident was reported at approximately 2:37 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10 from the 6900 block of Highway 70 South. The call was initially listed as a shooting, but it was switched to a burglary/residential break-in shortly afterward.

News 2 sent a crew to the scene of the incident, but members of the Metro Nashville Police Department had blocked off a stretch of Highway 70 South in front of the address.

Around 4:45 p.m., News 2’s crew saw authorities let a fire truck and ambulance past the blockade and then reopened the road to other motorists.

News 2 spoke with a member of the MNPD, who said he arrived at the scene following the initial call and saw a person near the street outside the apartment complex with a gun, which led to the closure of Highway 70 South…
