Nashville mayor moves to fire Metro 911 director over harassment investigation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell is moving to fire Metro 911 Director Stephen Martini after an independent investigation found “deeply troubling” leadership failures at the emergency call center.

Martini was placed on administrative leave last Friday after refusing to resign. O’Connell has filed formal charges against Martini, including “failure to perform official duty,” according to a letter obtained by WSMV.

“The report we got back from (investigating law firm Ogletree-Deakins) was deeply troubling,” O’Connell said. “In fact, on Friday, I did ask Director Martini for his resignation. He preferred to go through a formal disciplinary process. We submitted a charge letter to him this week, and we will have a disciplinary hearing.”
