A Nashville teen has been apprehended by TITANS Unit detectives in connection with a robbery and shooting incident that occurred early last month. The 16-year-old, Jaylen Fitzgerald, is accused of shooting a 62-year-old man on December 2nd after what began as an innocuous transaction outside a Kroger on Monroe Street, according to Nashville Police Department.
Reports indicate that the afternoon took a turn when Fitzgerald, after selling candy to the elder, requested a ride home due to cold weather – a request the victim complied with. It was at 26th Avenue North where the teen demanded the man’s cash and medication at gunpoint. The situation escalated, and when the victim tried to eject Fitzgerald from the car, the teen shot him in the abdomen.
Following the incident, an investigation led by Non-Lethal Shooting unit detectives identified Fitzgerald as the suspect. The break in the case came on January 16th when Fitzgerald was found on Jefferson Street. During his arrest, a nine-millimeter pistol was discovered on his person.
