TENNESSEE — School districts across Tennessee have adjusted class schedules for Wednesday as the state continues to deal with lingering effects of a major winter storm that brought snow, ice and extremely cold temperatures.
In Middle Tennessee, several school systems will remain closed Wednesday due to hazardous road conditions and ongoing safety concerns: Metro Nashville Public Schools has announced that all schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday because of the winter weather. All before- and after-school care, extracurricular activities, athletic events and meetings are also canceled, and district offices will be closed Wednesday and working remotely Thursday.
Elsewhere around the state, a number of districts have posted closures for Wednesday:
- Johnson County Schools — All schools will be closed Wednesday with no in-person or remote classes scheduled.
In other areas of Middle and East Tennessee, school officials have reported closures or delays extending through Wednesday as icy roads and power outages persist. Some districts — including Benton County, Lewis County, Montgomery County, Rutherford County and Smith County — have already extended closures through Wednesday due to unsafe conditions…
