HOA nightmare: Tennessee family threatened for using generator after ice storm cut power and heat

Amid a massive power outage and freezing temperatures threatening homes left without electricity or heat, one Tennessee family purchased a gas generator and some space heaters — but their homeowners’ association was less than pleased.

The HOA allegedly threatened to fine the homeowners because the generator didn’t comply with the aesthetic code of the family’s townhouse in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood of Nashville — even as the family struggled to keep their house above 30 degrees Fahrenheit inside.

A brutal ice storm knocked out power to Talia Caravello’s home on Sunday, per local station WSMV, prompting her to purchase a $1,500 gas generator, several extension cords and space heaters in a bid to keep her family warm…
