Insurance company reverses denial on Nashville plant store claim following public outcry

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Nashville plant store that lost all of its inventory during a power outage last week is now experiencing a rebirth.

The Lawrence & Clarke Cacti Company lost $100,000 worth of inventory when the store went without power for a week during the storm. Owner Kimberly Daft said State Farm initially agreed to cover the loss but reversed the decision a week later.

“I literally, in a five-minute phone call, lost everything,” Daft said. “If I’m paying a premium for insurance to protect my business, if you’re not protecting the loss of revenue or the inventory, what were you insuring?”
