The Zeta Omicron chapter, which was first established in 1982, has struggled with member recruitment in recent years.The Alpha Chi Omega sorority announced that the Zeta Omicron chapter at Vanderbilt University will close April 20, at the end of the spring semester. According to a press release statement from the national organization, the decision to withdraw the chapter followed a unanimous vote of the National Council. The chapter members and campus officials were notified during the week of Feb. 2.
The statement indicated that the withdrawal was due to challenges in membership recruitment and campus culture, despite the national organization offering its support.
“Since 2024, Alpha Chi Omega [has been] committed to rebuilding the Zeta Omicron chapter and invested significant resources to returning Zeta Omicron to a thriving chapter on the Vanderbilt campus,” the statement said. “Despite the best efforts of members, volunteers and staff, the campus culture simply did not provide the foundation needed for sustainable growth. We are appreciative of the Greek Life staff at Vanderbilt University for their continued support.”…
