Nashville coffee shop to reopen in Germantown months after closure

Within four months, two cornerstones of the Nashville coffee shop scene shuttered their locations in the Germantown neighborhood. Now, one of them is plotting its return.

First came Red Bicycle in September 2025, and its down-the-street neighbor Barista Parlor followed in January 2026. Red Bicycle’s owners didn’t cite a specific reason for closing but Barista Parlor owner Andy Mumma said rising rent and operations costs were unsustainable.

While real estate values in Germantown are still on an upward trajectory— as Realtors.com reports a 31.66% year-over-year property price growth— Red Bicycle is finding a way to make it work. Its flagship location at 1200 5th Ave. N. will soon reopen…
