NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Investigations conducted Monday in the James Cayce Homes area led to the recovery of several guns and drugs, including fentanyl, officials said.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the investigations led by TITANS detectives were aimed to address ongoing criminal activity in the area.
In the first incident, detectives said they observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed near Sylvan Street and South 9th Street. A passenger, who was carrying a backpack, reportedly entered the vehicle and later got out in a nearby alleyway.

Officials said when the passenger was approached by detectives, he immediately dropped the backpack and ran away. Three loaded handguns were recovered from the backpack and the vehicle was found abandoned a short time later, per the MNPD.
Meanwhile, in the second incident, detectives reported that two 15-year-old boys were standing near South 7th Street and Sylvan Street, adding that one was wearing a ski mask and appeared have a tan handgun in his waistband.

Authorities said the teens walked to the area of South 7th Street and Fatherland Street, where an investigative stop was conducted. One of the teens allegedly told detectives that the gun was fake, which was later confirmed to be an “imitation Glock handgun.”
Officials said the replica handgun was seized and both teens were released. However, the MNPD is investigating their potential involvement in motor vehicle burglaries.

In the third incident, detectives stopped a vehicle after the observing the 32-year-old driver committing several traffic violations. The driver was reportedly in possession of approximately 10 grams of fentanyl, a digital scale and a handgun. He was charged with drug possession, per booking records.
