Driver rescued after crashing into Cumberland River in Donelson

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A driver was rescued after he crashed into the Cumberland River in Donelson early Friday morning.

Crews were called to McGavock Pike at Pennington Bend around 4:30 a.m.

According to officials, the driver crashed through a chain barrier and ripped the concrete posts from their foundation. The driver then traveled down a Metro boat ramp at a high rate of speed and crashed into the Cumberland River.

Crews arrived and were able to free the man from the crashed vehicle and take him to an area hospital for treatment…
