NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In the bitter days following Middle Tennessee’s historic ice storm, the Wear family of Green Hills did what thousands of others quietly did across the city. They packed up their belongings, locked the door behind them, and checked into a hotel.
“It was so unbelievably cold, and it was just going to get colder that we decided to get a hotel room,” Eadie Wear said.
With temperatures plunging and power out, their home was no longer livable. But safety came at a price. Night after night, the hotel bill climbed. And layered on top of the room charge: local hotel occupancy taxes…
