NES ‘exploring every financial tool’ to avoid rate hikes for customers after winter storm costs reach up to $140M

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Electric Service is weighing its financial options after the January winter storm left the utility facing repair costs estimated between $110 million and $140 million.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved aid for Tennessee, but it is unclear whether that funding will be enough to prevent rate increases for NES customers.
