First pass of storm debris cleanup nearly complete, NDOT says

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nearly a month after the devastating winter storm struck Nashville, cleanup continues in some parts of Nashville.

The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure said they’re making great progress on their post-storm brush pickup routes: they’re on track to finish their first pass by the end of the month, NDOT told News 2.

NDOT has had contracted crews working 12-hour shifts since Feb. 3 to help with the process. The 100-plus crews working with the county have picked up more than 543,000 cubic yards of storm vegetation so far.

That amount of debris, if you stacked it up on the field of Nissan Stadium, would be more than 50 feet higher than the stadium itself.

According to NDOT, the first pass through the county should be completed in the next five days. After that, they’re going to do another pass to make sure no neighborhood was left behind…
