East Nashville intersection up for traffic calming measures

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A busy road in East Nashville may see changes soon.

Neighbors along Porter Road have requested traffic calming measures due to consistent speeding issues. According to the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure, Porter Road is their fourth highest priority of the 25 roads they plan to add traffic calming measures to soon.

When they go about selecting roads for traffic calming, NDOT uses multiple factors to make their determination, including analyzing speed, the number of cars that travel through, crash history, non-driver accommodations, and proximity to community locations.

NDOT said their research shows Porter Road has both a high number of speeders and high traffic volume, which is why they’ve decided to do something along the road between Eastland and Greenwood avenues.
