Metro Police warn of ‘sliding’ thefts at Nashville gas stations

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — For many drivers, filling up at the gas station is just another routine stop in a busy week. But according to the Metro Nashville Police Department, thieves are taking advantage of distracted drivers through a crime known as “sliding.”

It’s called sliding — that’s when someone leaves their car unlocked and a thief opens the passenger door to steal items while the driver is pumping gas.
