Metro Nashville Council approves resolution to offer storm relief through property taxes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Metro Nashville Council approved a few items Tuesday that could put money back in residents’ pockets if they were impacted by the winter storm.

Those with home or property damaged in January’s deadly arctic blast could see relief on their property taxes this year. The council approved a resolution that allows the assessor of property to lower residents’ 2026 property assessment if their property was damaged.

That means residents would pay less in property taxes based on the actual condition of their home, not what it was worth before the storm hit…
