Ice storm-damaged trees could pose threat during this weekend’s high winds in the Midstate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Broken and dead branches left behind by January’s ice storm could come crashing down during high winds expected in Nashville this weekend.

Tree experts said wind gusts over 50 miles per hour are enough to knock down large branches or uproot a damaged tree. The one factor working in residents’ favor is that trees currently have no leaves, which removes significant weight from already-damaged branches.
