MNPD: 3 arrested, 2 guns recovered as part of ‘Street Racer Initiative’

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three men were taken into custody during separate incidents in Davidson County over the weekend as a result of the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Street Racer Initiative.

First, officers said they observed a white Infiniti traveling at speeds over 90 mph along Bell Road, even though the speed limit is 40 mph. Authorities added the driver of Infiniti appeared to be racing a black sedan.

As a MNPD helicopter followed the Infiniti, officers on the ground reportedly deployed spike strips at the intersection of Reynolds Road and Smith Springs Road. The driver of the Infiniti—identified as 18-year-old Jason Linares—turned right onto Smith Springs Road and ran a red light before running off the road into a ditch, per officials.

According to the MNPD, Linares and three other occupants inside the Infiniti fled from the vehicle and ran through a wooded area to an apartment complex, where they were detained. An AR-15 was later found in the woods, officials said…
