Winter returns to Middle Tennessee next week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — It looks like our spring-like weather is going away for a few days the week of March 16.

Middle Tennessee is forecasted to see below freezing temperatures, frigid wind chills and even a few snow showers will be possible!

Spring-like weather is still in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15. The News 2 Weather Authority Team is forecasting high temperatures in the 70s!

Everything changes on Sunday night. A strong cold front will swing from west to east across the country, bringing a big drop in temperatures. This is when we will see the return of winter-like temperatures.

Along the cold front, there could be a few strong to severe thunderstorms, especially in West Tennessee. These storms could produce widespread wind gusts over 60 mph.

The latest forecast model data is showing the potential for a few snow showers on the back side of the cold front. Forecast models tend to overestimate snow showers in these scenarios, but a few blowing snow flurries on Monday morning look likely. Folks on the Cumberland Plateau could see a quick dusting.
